Background of WBEF

The World Business Ethics Forum (WBEF) was co-founded by Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and University of Macau (UM) in 2006.

The main aim of WBEF is to offer an opportunity for academics and business practitioners to meet colleagues from around the world, to share and to discuss new thinking, pressing issues and research findings in the field of business ethics.

The 1st WBEF was held from 1-3 November 2006 in Hong Kong and Macau on the theme of ‘Does East meets West’. The 2nd and 3rd WBEF were hosted by HKBU and UM respectively on the themes of ‘Rethinking the Value of Business Ethics’ and ‘Accountability, Credibility, & Ethicality’. Past keynote speakers included Prof. Alex Michalos, Chief Editor at the Journal of Business Ethics, and Prof. Hans van Ginkel, Chairman of the Kofi Annan Business School Foundation. Selected papers from past Forums were published in special issues of the Journal of Business Ethics.
